Turtle Snookie

A Legacy of Elegance Since 2018 Snookie isn’t just a hawksbill turtle; she is a true icon of Makadi Bay. Her story with TurtleWatch Egypt began in 2018, when she was first spotted by Jessica Godiker. Since that first encounter, Snookie has become one of our most beloved residents, proving that some turtles truly do find a place to call home.
A Natural Performer If youβve ever snorkeled in the shallow turquoise waters of Makadi, you might have already crossed paths with her. Snookie is famous for her effortless grace. Unlike other turtles that prefer the quiet of the deep, she loves the sunlit upper layers of the reef. She is most often seen gliding peacefully at depths of no more than 5 meters, perfect for a lucky observer to witness her intricate shell patterns shimmering under the Red Sea sun.
Why Adopt Snookie? By adopting Snookie, you are directly supporting our mission to protect her home. Hawksbill turtles are critically endangered, and having a resident like Snookie allows us to monitor the health of the reef and the stability of the local population over many years.
When you adopt Snookie, you help us ensure that she, and many others, can continue to swim freely in the shallow gardens of Makadi Bay for decades to come.
