Turtle Altea
Altea, a graceful green turtle, has been spotted consistently in Marsa Abu Dabab since 2017. Known for her predictable presence, Altea has frequented the area over 30 times, showcasing her love for the warm waters of this stunning bay. Her long history here speaks volumes about the importance of safe marine habitats.
One day, Altea was found injured, and her condition sparked deep concern. The TurtleWatch Egypt team followed her recovery very closely, documenting her progress as she healed in the wild. Her recovery story stands as one of the most remarkable and significant among the turtles in the Red Sea, marking the first documented recovery of its kind for a turtle in the region.
