Yellowscar’s Journey: The Green Turtle of Hermes Bay

Meet Yellowscar, a green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) with a story of patience and perseverance in the Red Sea.
First spotted back in 2023 swimming in the open blue of Hermes Bay, Yellowscar remained a mystery for years. It wasn't until 2026 that we finally gathered all the essential photo-identification and biometric data needed to officially register this individual in the TurtleWatch Egypt catalog.
Thanks to the dedication of citizen scientist Steven Peeters, who made this milestone possible and strongly advocated for Yellowscar’s inclusion in our symbolic adoption program, you can now support her journey.
By adopting Yellowscar, you directly contribute to our long-term photo-ID monitoring, habitat protection, and marine conservation efforts in the Egyptian Red Sea.
