Meet Ginan: The Reef’s Best-Kept Secret

Some residents take time to officially introduce themselves, and Ginan is one of them!

We first crossed paths with this beautiful Hawksbill turtle back in 2015, but it remained a mysterious glider in our database for years. It wasn’t until 2019, thanks to the incredible and sharp citizen science footage captured by volunteer Volker Wollert, that we finally obtained the perfect facial photo-ID. Those exact images allowed us to map its unique scale patterns and officially register it as a permanent resident in our scientific catalog.

Today, Ginan calls the vibrant Royal Tulip House Reef her home, where it can often be spotted gracefully navigating the coral walls. By adopting Ginan, you aren’t just supporting a turtle; you are directly fueling the long-term monitoring and protection of her sanctuary.

Adopt Ginan today and become a part of her ongoing story in the Red Sea!
