Azizi – Safe, Strong, and Precious in the Red Sea
In Arabic, the name Azizi carries a powerful trio of meanings: beloved, powerful, and precious, and this beautiful hawksbill sea turtle embodies every single one. Azizi was officially cataloged in our TurtleWatch Egypt 2.0 database thanks to wonderful encounters documented by diver Steven Peeters.
During her registration dive, Azizi was cruising along the reef edge near a lush seagrass area when it stumbled upon an unexpected ocean treat: a jellyfish floating nearby! While hawksbill turtles are famous for foraging on sponges along the coral reef, they certainly won't pass up a juicy snack. Watching Azizi eagerly munching on the jellyfish, completely unfazed and happily carrying on with its day, was a rare, delightful moment that captivated everyone who saw the photos.
Its strength, calm demeanor, and unique charm make her a beloved favorite among our team and field observers.
By symbolically adopting Azizi, you directly support our ongoing marine monitoring, scientific research, and population tracking to keep her coral home safe and thriving.
