Turtle Haselmaus

For nearly three years, this beautiful green sea turtle has been a beloved, familiar face for divers and snorkelers in the bay, frequently spotted gliding effortlessly through the crystal-clear waters. Yet, despite being a regular local resident, Haselmaus managed to remain a bit of a mystery, always playing just a little too camera-shy for a perfect photo-ID match.

That all changed at the end of 2025. Thanks to the incredible patience and dedication of Ela Vogt, we finally captured the flawless full-profile shots needed to officially register Haselmaus into our global catalog!

But the mystery doesn't end here. Haselmaus is growing beautifully right before our eyes, and we are currently on the edge of our seats watching this turtle mature. Is Haselmaus a large sub-adult ready to make the leap into adulthood, or a beautiful adult female settling into her nesting years? Only time, citizen science, and continued monitoring will tell!
