Meet the main Turtle Watchers of this area:

Sarah O’Gorman has been living and working in Marsa Alam for over 13 years. She is a PADI Divemaster and underwater photographer with a strong passion for marine conservation and citizen science. She works as Marketing Manager for Red Sea Diving Safari, the longest running diving operation in the Southern Red Sea which focuses on sustainable tourism management and environmental protection.
Sarah has been contributing to TurtleWatch Egypt for 9 years, supporting the project by documenting turtle sightings during her dives and snorkels and submitting photos and videos for identification and research. She also helps organise TurtleWatch activities in collaboration with the team at the three Red Sea Diving Safari locations: Marsa Shagra, Marsa Nakari, and Wadi Lahami, and actively encourages guests to support TurtleWatch by contributing their own sightings or taking part in organised activities.

Sarah is usually based at Marsa Shagra, but can also regularly be found at Marsa Nakari and Wadi Lahami.

Flavia Barth
Flavia Barth has been part of the Red Sea Diving Safari marketing team for the past four years. Since then, she has been supporting TurtleWatch Egypt by regularly sending in turtle sightings, from her time in the water. She enjoys seeing how TurtleWatch events on site help guests and staff members learn more about turtles and loves watching people’s reactions whenever they spot one. It never fails to leave them in awe.
Turtles registered: 1
Sightings recorded: more than 20
Flavia is usually found between Marsa Shagra, Marsa Nakari and Wadi Lahami, spending as much time as possible in the water. She loves taking photos and videos and simply observing marine life, which naturally leads to many turtle encounters. Her favourite times are early mornings and late afternoons around sunset, when spotting a turtle feels even more special and adds that extra “wow” moment thanks to the stunning light and beautiful atmosphere in the water.
