Ilonka’s story
Meet Ilonka, the well-traveled green turtle who has been a frequent visitor to Wadi Gimal DC Housereef and occasionally Gorgonia Housereef. First documented on April 1, 2018, Ilonka has since been sighted numerous times, including key dates like May 10 and November 5, 2018. She continued her appearances through 2019 and 2020, notably on March 18 and February 6. Ilonka’s adventures extend into 2021, 2022, and 2023, with regular sightings from May to September, and even into 2024.
Her presence across these diverse reef habitats highlights the rich biodiversity of the area and underscores the need for marine conservation. By virtually adopting Ilonka, you can support vital conservation efforts and celebrate the incredible journey of this green turtle as she navigates the vibrant waters of her oceanic home.

Once we receive confirmation of the donation, the turtle’s adoption form (make sure the name on the donation and the adoption form match) and the payment receipt, we will issue you (or the recipient) with the adoption certificate with details about the sea turtle. Please allow 7 working days, following receipt of payment, for the certificate to be issued.
