Matl – The Reef Guardian
Matl, a green turtle, has been a familiar and cherished presence at Wadi Gimal DC Housereef since its first sighting in June 2023.
Known for its tranquil demeanor, Matl often glides gracefully through the reef, blending seamlessly with the vibrant marine life.
With sightings extending into mid-2024, Matl has become a true symbol of the delicate balance within the reef and seagrass ecosystem.
This turtle’s continued presence underscores the importance of conserving Shams Alam’s rich biodiversity for generations to come.

Your digital adoption package includes:

- A fact-sheet about the turtle you are adopting and the story of your turtle
- Your adopted sea turtle featured on our website
- Special post on our social media (Facebook and Instagram) for your turtle
Once we receive confirmation of the donation, the turtle’s adoption form (make sure the name on the donation and the adoption form match) and the payment receipt, we will issue you (or the recipient) with the adoption certificate with details about the sea turtle. Please allow 7 working days, following receipt of payment, for the certificate to be issued.
