Akila – The Spirit of Panorama Reef
In 2024, a small but spirited juvenile hawksbill turtle made her first appearance at Panorama Reef. Her name is Akila — which means “wise” in Arabic — and though she’s just starting her journey, she already moves with surprising confidence.
Spotted by Amandine Chanvrier, Akila weaves through coral like she belongs there, full of purpose and presence. She may be small, but there’s something bold in her gaze, something that hints at the turtle she’ll become.
Adopting Akila means standing beside her from the very beginning, as she grows into one of the reef’s future guardians.

Adoption plans
Your digital adoption package includes:
- A personalized digital adoption certificate
- A fact-sheet about the turtle you are adopting and the story of your turtle
- Your adopted sea turtle featured on our website
- Special post on our social media (Facebook and Instagram) for your turtle
Once we receive confirmation of the donation, the turtle’s adoption form (make sure the name on the donation and the adoption form match) and the payment receipt, we will issue you (or the recipient) with the adoption certificate with details about the sea turtle. Please allow 7 working days, following receipt of payment, for the certificate to be issued.
