Turtle Samy

Samy is a hawksbill turtle who made its first appearance at Marsa Abu Dabab on July 15, 2024. This was Samy’s debut sighting with TurtleWatch Egypt, and it was observed swimming gracefully through the waters of this vibrant marine area, known for its rich biodiversity. Marsa Abu Dabab provides a perfect environment for feeding and resting, making it an ideal spot for Samy.
Although Samy’s story is just beginning, we are hopeful that it will become a regular visitor to the Red Sea’s protected areas. Georg Ivan was the first to spot Samy, marking the start of its documented journey with TurtleWatch Egypt.
With the help of our supporters and dedicated observers like Georg, we can continue tracking and protecting Samy, ensuring its long-term survival in the warm, safe waters of the Red Sea.
